not quite a purist

So, it seems as though I've failed in my first protein purification attempt this week at work. I'm not quite sure if it's my fault or if it was the method I used, which hadn't been done yet with this particular protein, but it was a failure nonetheless. But I suppose it's something I'll have to live with...9 times out of 10, or probably more, new things I work on in the lab will not work as I intend them to work. So it goes.

Good week though. Tonight I play housekeeper...laundry and dishes have me pinned in a corner.

I hate it when they change the locks.

family "fit of laughter" guy

So in watching Family Guy yesterday (Sundays at 9pm on Fox, Ch. 8) I laughed almost continously, and at times harder than I've laughed at television since I was introduced to "Kicked in the Nuts." And after half-heartedly chuckling my way through a rare viewing of the Simpsons, which seems to have grown stale by my taste, it was wholly refreshing.

On a different note, tonight I made some freakin' sweet soup from scratch, after setting out with the simple intent to cook a chicken breast and heat up some canned corn. Astonishingly similar to my turkey chili, only creamy, not quite as thick, and without the beans. Which, yes, means it's spicy as all get-out. When it comes to chili powder, I just don't know when to say "when"...

I'll have to perfect this recipe before I publish it. Maybe in a few weeks.

re: what a night

So here's the deal. I was a little belligerent in my post the other night. And even after the Indians' season has ended after the loss to Chicago today, I feel obligated to amend my statments. This season has been the most excited I've been about baseball EVER. And I loved every minute of it. I've never really been a follower, just a casual fan, but in the past few months, I've become enthralled with watching the Tribe. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I now live 10 min from the stadium and got a series of tickets during the season, but even when I wasn't at the game, I was listening on the radio or going to a bar to watch (still much cheaper than getting cable...).

All in all, 93-69 is not a bad way to end the season, despite getting swept at home in the last series. Even with that, the last month was the best I've seen this team play since I can remember. So forget what I said about them not being able to win games. I can't wait for April...
